Everyone Else is Cool, I’m Awkward
If you know Jenna Marbles, then you know she’s the queen of awkward, in the best possible way. She’s shown us that awkward is… okay and normal. And, in the case of my family (she’s my daughter), it’s expected, accepted and endearing.
A lot of what passes for feelings of stiffness or embarrassment, are the result what I call, ‘comparing my insides to someone else’s outsides.’ Inside, I feel uncomfortable, but when I look at others, they seem to know exactly what they’re doing.
I believe that judging someone feels by how they look… is wrong. Most people feel just as awkward as I do, they just hide it.
Worry Less About the Opinions of Others
This can be a struggle, but it’s really important to work at this. We need to trust ourselves more. We are much harder on ourselves than we are on others. Practice self-compassion; the same compassion we extend to others. Here’s 10 Ways to be Less Awkward in case you’re looking for other ideas. It’s likely though, that you are not only ok, but actually great, just the way you are.
How Long Until I Accept My Awkward Self?
I’ve noticed that ‘awkward’ often equates to being ‘socially’ awkward which means something negative that we have to ‘overcome?’ Why? Why can’t I just be awkward and figure out how to get along in life? Besides, when the robots come and take over everything, I’ll still be less awkward than them. Right?
To help you figure it out, watch Jenna as she explains it all in her video: Landshark (Caution: explicit language and other awkward stuff. )

February 7, 2018Thanks Debbie Machine!! I know that in my daily life I see myself as being awkward in a negative way, but I know that I can be awkward and be fine too! My awkwardness usually comes from a fear of others’ opinions but I shouldn’t care about them, especially when I’m being awkward and loving it! Thanks again Debbie!!
